Bike Bar

For the past few months, I’ve been wandering past a new Hopworks Brewery opening up this summer by my work. Finally this week it opened and it might just be the most Portland place ever.
Informally called “Bike Bar”, it has a 60-capacity bike rack on the back patio along with custom-Oregon made bike frames across the bar ceiling. The nerd in me loves that there are QR codes on the bike frames that give you more information about the bikemaker. Artwork of people and their bikes adorns the walls and there’s even a water bottle filling station. The best part, however, is the two stationary bikes out front that those waiting for tables can use to generate electricity that actually powers the bar. Can it get more Portland than that?
Oh, and the overhead light fixtures are growlers with the bottoms cut off.
